Gemological Appraisal Association, Inc. (GAA) offers a unique suite of
appraising services. By employing a seasoned team of both Graduate Gemologists
and accountants who understand the intricacies of the jewelry business from
both a physical and financial perspective, GAA is able to provide clients with
complete financial analysis and gemological audits in several areas. These
include, but are not limited to, pre-loan analysis for banks and their
prospective borrowers, ongoing physical audits of assets for style,
saleability, proper valuation and loss projection, A/R, A/P, cash and the
relationship between wholesalers, manufacturers and retailers. GAA also offers
extensive experience in acquisition and liquidation services, as well as,
forensic science.
GAA’s services are frequently retained by museums, foundations, insurance
companies, the jewelry trade - both wholesale and retail, law firms, accounting
firms and individuals as jewelry quality and value come into question. Don
Palmieri, Director of GAA, has been called upon to testify as an expert
witness in major court cases throughout the US, Canada, Singapore and the
Bahamas.
Gemological Appraisal Association was founded by Don A. Palmieri in 1982. To
date, clients include government agencies such as, the U.S. Justice Department,
Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Customs Bureau, U.S. Secret Service, The
Royal Canadian Mounted Police and The Ontario Attorney General. Retail and
wholesale clients include: Alison Gem Corp (Chapter 11 Trustee for liquidation) and WB David
(gemological physical appraisal and liquidation).
